Rock Star Martyr
Delving into the Cult of the Dead Star...
Joebot and I first met in Nashville at some of my art exhibits. Turns out he's got one helluva sharp tongue that slices both ways. He's sick and he's gut busting hilarious and has a talent of keeping his own voice and dry humor surgically weaved throughout his tales of the divinely departed icons of music history. Joe saw my
Cult of Personality exhibit at MIR Gallery and transferred to me through email that it was the work he saw in his head to go with his articles. A year later after some communication, we delved into the underbelly and dark side of rock stardom with this project and series for us both. To what ends? Both Joe's work and mine lay witness to some sane truth of excess and all that goes in a pop culture society... and maybe you'll see a book of it all one day.
