Holy Rollin' Poultry on a Cross (Chick-fil-A as the Modern Martyr)

Inks on Bristol / 2012
The Christian and LGBT communities have polarized our country with their first amendment fueled war as of late.  In our current political landscape where corporations have gained legal person-hood, a company's public opinion comes into debate as people vote with their dollars.  In recent years, companies like The Home Depot and Starbucks have ruffled the Christ-like feathers of legions of Conservatives by supporting organizations which seek equal rights for the gay community.  Recently, the hue of grass on the other side of the fence has come into question.  Chick-fil-A (an American fast-food chain) has publicly acknowledged monetarily defending the traditional definition of marriage though donations to various religious organizations.

As gay rights groups stage protests of Chick-fil-A all over the country, Christian groups are raising the masses to defend the restaurant's right to Hate.  Of course, let us not forget that no press is bad press.  The fast food titan has reported record profits amidst the debacle.  At the end of the day, capitalism shines, profit reigns supreme and Big Business laughs all the way to the bank.  Millions of people have engaged in political, social and religious debate with the Holy Chicken as the new Martyr.  Poultry blood runs down the spear and stains the ground from which dollars sprout root.  It's a textbook campaign for the New Rules of Marketing and PR as the cows and chickens play their roles in leading the sheep to the drive-thru.

It's not Taxes! You are paying for services! When you pay for auto repairs do you get mad if you see your mechanic at a bar with a $200 tab that night?
If Chik Fil-a made more money than ever these last few days it is because the gay community originally made such a big stink about what another man feels. The owner of Chik Fil-a feels marriage is between a Man and a Woman. The gay community is trying to say he can not feel that way. Seems hypocritical to me. If you can't see it through a homosexuals point of view then you are not allowed to see it at all? The gay communities own efforts to raise public awareness on Chik Fil-a's supposedly wrong values has back fired and made him more money than ever.... Not his fault. But you are going to blame him for that also!!! lol get a grip.

You folks on the Right are hilarious with your hypocrisy...you have made a martyr out of Phil Robertson and his band of yuppies in redneck drag and are defending his warped views on the Bible while calling Pope Francis a Marxist communist pinko for criticizing the immorality of your failed trickle down theory. You have mixed your so called Christianity with unfettered capitalism while calling the poor lazy and takers. Pretty sick....but as Pope Francis says... Who am I to judge?

SHIT comes outta there!!!!!!!! And btw gay people r the most sex centered people on the planet. like 99 % sex. otherwise yall asses would be just homeboys( or bff s). how bout that message to the kids?

  2. "The owner of Chik Fil-a feels marriage is between a Man and a Woman. The gay community is trying to say he can not feel that way." The Gay community is not saying that at all, what they are saying is that he doesn't have the right to use the profits from his business to support causes that deny another life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. How he feels or what he says has nothing to do with it. The mechanic you mention is not denying anybody their right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. However if the mechanic took that $200 and donated it to a cause that wants to deny anyone who doesn't drink their right to then it would be the same. Anonymous only because there isn't any other choice that fits me. I'm straight and Christian by the way.

    2. Oh, I see. I could have sworn ALL of this anger was directed at what he SAID and how the gay community interpreted that to mean "gay people are not welcome at chic fil-A.". Thanks for clarifying their stance does not equate to "we hate you because you disagree with our lifestyle". Because suddenly the gay communities position doesn't seem so "iron curtain"ish. Of course I am being sarcastic. The whole thing is a load of hypocritical crap. You don't have to hate anyone to believe gay marriage might not be just as valid as straight marriage. You just have to look at how nature works to have enough information to say : "hrmmm, procreation seems to be the main goal of all living organisms (from top to bottom). Perhaps gay marriage is not such a good thing". Of course it's more complicated than that, but it's at least enough to make it difficult to say outright that gay and straight marriage are equal.
But this whole anti chic fil-a "movement" (more like a squeak looking at the turnout) amounts to this: "if you don't agree with me, then I will kill you or put you out of business" Such tolerance from our gay countrymen (countryqueens?).

  3. How is he denying the gay community from life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
He isn't taking away their life, he isn't taking away their liberty and he didn't take away something they already have so how are they unhappy.
As a Christian you know that marriage is between man and woman.
Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not judged, and whoever does not believe is judged already, because he does not believe in The Name of The Only Begotten Son of God.

I believe that a gay couple should have the same rights as a married couple but they can not call it marriage cause marriage has been defined as between man and woman for 3000 years.... they should be fighting for "equal partnership rights" they will find they get a lot farther fast. I find it very hard to believe any true Christian is going to change the biblical definition of marriage. Of course as a Christian you probably know that.

    1. I'm glad to be hearing both sides of the story here. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate they you acknowledge that gay couples deserve the same rights as married couples because that is the MAIN reason they want to get married!

    2. Well I mentioned a better way to go about so if you want the support of the conservatives try for partnership rights...

      Delete
    3. This argument is awful. Does it ever say specifically that gay marriage is wrong? Also, if these are the rules, according to genesis if you don't have kids and multiply, you are a sinner (environmental resources question debate here)? And are you sure Hebrews isn't saying lets all not be promiscuous individuals and procreate with everyone to subdue STDs? Its all about interpretation. How about everyone can get "married", and if you want yours to mean gays can't do it too, then you can have your "marriage" in a church. its just a word, lets not be so picky.. Sounds like you want to differentiate yourself from gay people. Directly supporting the group that denies the marriage of homosexuals is the same as denying happiness to a person.

Here analyze this one also... please tell me what God meant by it...
1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
Yeah in Hebrews I'm sure He meant exactly what he said if He was talking about STD's He would have said STD's you won't get anyone who studies the Word to see a person who does not study it see it through there point of view.
Why don't you try and convince a doctor that the heart is in the foot you would have better luck.

      Delete
    6. A man does not have a point he is talking about a Book he never read. they do deserve the same exact partnership rights. but everyone has the right if want to say "They can not call themselves married" If they believe in the first original definition of marriage from the first marriage on earth til the end of time. Why is the gay community can bash on someone that believes in the first original definition of marriage? Such hypocrites. Call Christians haters because of their beliefs on marriage. My beliefs are the same long before Gays asked to married..... so now I have to change them because they decide Marriage is what they need to be happy and I'm holding them back from? Get a grip

    10. I am just wondering which version of Biblical marriage it is that is preferred, seeing as there are at least 8 types condoned in scripture. It is hard to say which is the 'best/preferred' without cherry picking to support a specific preconception.

      1) Polygynous Marriage
Probably the most common form of marriage in the bible, it is where a man has more than one wife.

      2) Levirate Marriage
When a woman was widowed without a son, it became the responsibility of the brother-in-law or a close male relative to take her in and impregnate her. If the resulting child was a son, he would be considered the heir of her late husband. See Ruth, and the story of Onan (Gen. 38:6-10).

      3) A man, a woman and her property — a female slave
The famous “handmaiden” sketch, as preformed by Abraham (Gen. 16:1-6) and Jacob (Gen. 30:4-5).

      4) A man, one or more wives, and some concubines
The definition of a concubine varies from culture to culture, but they tended to be live-in mistresses. Concubines were tied to their “husband,” but had a lower status than a wife. Their children were not usually heirs, so they were safe outlets for sex without risking the line of succession. To see how badly a concubine could be treated, see the famous story of the Levite and his concubine (Judges 19:1-30).

      5) A male soldier and a female prisoner of war
Women could be taken as booty from a successful campaign and forced to become wives or concubines. Deuteronomy 21:11-14 describes the process.

      6) A male rapist and his victim
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 describes how an unmarried woman who had been raped must marry her attacker.

      7) A male and female slave
A female slave could be married to a male slave without consent, presumably to produce more slaves.

      and of course …

      8) Monogamous, heterosexual marriage
What you might think of as the standard form of marriage, provided you think of arranged marriages as the standard. Also remember that inter-faith or cross-ethnic marriage were forbidden for large chunks of biblical history.

The important thing to realize here is that none of these models are described as better than any other. All appear to have been accepted.

Then you might sound a little more educated than a copy and paster and have a bigger cheering section than a man named Brandt who SHOULD be back in HIS CORNER damn it Brandt you said you grew up in a Christian home so you should already know the differences in the Old and the New so why are you agreeing with someone who trying to have a Christian debate using Jewish material... get back to that corner Brandt and think a little harder about what you have done here.

31 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.

Well friend, perhaps before you ridicule someone for not fully educating themselves on a subject before making comments about it, you should learn how many amendments there have been to the US Constitution. You have no moral highground here. You are simply using the Bible as a tool to allow you to rationalize your revulsion with homosexuals and bigotry towards them when it comes to using the word "marriage". It doesn't make you a good Christian, or righteous, it makes you a fool who proclaims to understand the message of the new testament but clearly missed the point entirely.

The bill of rights(which you seem to think were ratified at the same time by your argument) were ratified on dec 15, 1791, THREE YEARS LATER. So, once more, you are making statements as though they are facts, WITH NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. so why don't you go pick up a book other than the Bible, use it to beat your dying wife to death, then go stand in the corner and start eating the pages until you choke to death. Before when you put your money into social security it actually went to social security. Of course, I wouldn't want to regress 50 years as far as social acceptance. I'm am part of an interracial marriage, which was also at one time illegal. Gays deserve their basic right to marry as human beings. It's unfortunate that it takes something like the absurdity of a chicken sandwich debate to pull it to the forefront of debate. Did you know that on the 2nd day God created Earth he also made a chicken sandwich? He blessed it by laying two gay pickles side-by-side within it's bread (body of Christ). So.. symbolically within the body of Jesus there is a big gay pickle love party going on. But the pickles are sad... because they want to get married within the body of Christ. But people like you... the underbelly of outdated religious practices and stereotype have banned them from having the privilege of getting divorced and being miserable like every other person.

    1. I agree and that is the main issue. Corporate America brought that on themselves with Citizens United.

    2. Oh so Starbucks endorses Gays and it is fine and dandy but when Chik Fil-a does it for something he believes in then it is wrong?
      HYPOCRITES

    3. Plenty of people protest Starbucks and The Home Depot especially. Here in the south, the store is suffering for supporting pro-gay groups.

      Delete
    4. People can suffer for taking a stand correct but in your case only Starbucks and Home Depot are allowed to take a stand and suffer not Chik Fil-a.

      Delete
    5. I think you misunderstand... there are examples on both sides of the fence here. Citizens United opens up a forum for debate of any company's stance on political issues whether pro or anti-gay.

    8. Did Starbucks or Home Depot use corporate money to influence the passage of gay marriage legislation?

      Delete
    9. I know that there are already having a customer appreciation day at Starbucks to counter the Chick-fil-A publicity stunt. Here in Tennessee I have heard a lot of rhetoric about The Home Depot supporting Gay organizations since at my day job I have worked with THD as a service-provider in the past. We've had THD branded mailers send back to our offices with hate speech on them.

I would have to research to cite specifically what groups either business has contributed to but it is fairly common knowledge for both to have been smeared by Conservative groups for their stance.

  11. Rich white christian men can say whatever they want, and always have. If you support the statement of hate made by the CEO of chick fil a you are not supporting freedom of speech or making the world a better place for christians. You are showing that you support hate of a specific group, and making christians look bad in general.
In the end gay people are being denied a basic civil right, the right to marry the person they love. I will not support any company that trys to stop love and marriage.

    1. Absolutely Meg, it's a civil rights issue and should be a no-brainer. How can we keep denying one specific group basic rights?

      Delete
    2. I agree any one can marry the opposite sex because that is marriage. I believe that gay couples should have the same partnership rights.
I detect some buried hate there Meg.... White Christian men are not supposed to run a successful business and keep or spend their hard earned money as the see fit? Don't you keep or spend your hard owned money as you see fit Meg? What you don't like him (hate) because he is rich, white, or a Christian? Or because he can say whatever he wants? last I checked Meg the 1st amendment applies to yourself.... so whats the problem? Oh and by the way please tell me word for word the statement of hate that he said.... have you even heard it? what about you Brandt what is the statement she is referring to?

    3. Here is a clue: "We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit," Cathy said. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."
That is what he said!!! oh such a basher on the gay community listen to his hateful cries of protest!! Quick Brandt draw a chicken on the cross!!!(That is sarcasm you are reading) That was the comment that started it all.... but I guess you forgot to read that also. Again talking about things you know absolutely nothing about go back to the corner and stand in it Brandt and think about what you did.

    4. Friend, I really hope Chick-Fil-A is paying you to have your feathers this ruffled. The art is satirical and I think you have some mommy issues you should seek professional help with. Putting people in digital time-out is kinda creepy.

      Delete
    5. Feathers are not ruffled at all Brandt in fact I'm think about starting my own comedy show much like Tosh.o and getting you to come on and convince you that you really do need to stand in the corner for your time out.
The fact you are grasping for straws and through out mommy issues tells me all your problems I need to know you have some deep rooted problems that somehow you have mistaking for the opening of a third eye. The LSD you took was actually laced with so much strict 9 that it did permanent damage to your mind and from the one sided point of view pictures you have been painting (kinda creepy) I feel you should seek professional help.

    10. Ok strychnine, not strict 9, dip shit.

Your defense of Mr. Cathy's statements should at least encompass the entirety of his statements, so as to avoid misinterpretation.

“we’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. And I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about." Dan Cathy

    11. You can't take a 3000 year old word Jason and redefine it cause you and a couple of your friends don't like it.... um MORON.
Oh I think me and a couple of my friends are going to go around and call trees clouds for now on and if anyone does like it I'll call them BIGOTS.
I know what rat poison is moron. Your mad at me cause I purposely spelled a word wrong but I can't be made at you for wanting to change the definition of MARRIAGE you are a HYPOCRITE my friend now go to the corner with Brandt and think about THINK about what you just did right THERE.
you are more fun than BRANDT LMAO

    12. The word of God no more guided the hand of the men who wrote the texts which became The Bible than it guides your deluded rantings. Marriage between two people of the same sex should be and will be legal some day.

      Delete
    13. The word "marriage" is far from 3000 years old MORON (I can tell you like that word). But keep arguing this same sad point as though you have some kind of moral authority. You don't. You just want to be an asshole, that's all it comes down to. You have a character flaw that gives you pleasure from using some abstract moral fortitude to persecute those who think differently than you. Oh I know, you and your poor Christian brothers are the ones under attack, the ones being persecuted. Those nasty liberals and atheists trying too take away your God given right to persecute people based on a (roughly) 1600 year old document. How date they!

    14. It is a well known fact a man named Jesus Christ lived and died on a cross in Jerusalem 2000 years ago all the educated non believers agree to that at least. Also The Old Testament was from before that depicting history back farther at least another 2000 years. The word Marriage has been defined back then (long before Webster was born or Gays wanted to change it) as a union between man and woman. You can not change that definition but you can save yourself a ton of argument by asking for Equal Partnership rights (if you are gay). How crazy would you sound if you started calling a pencil a pen for now on? "Jim hand me that pen over there." "Bob ah its a pencil." "Not anymore its not Jim we are going to call it a pen for now on." "Ah no we are not Bob its a pencil." "You are a bigot Jim." "You're a moron Bob."
Dan Cathy does not want to change the definition of marriage and neither does almost all the rest of the world... 7 billion people do not want to.

      Delete
    15. Well since you want to get so technical, the English language didn't exist 3000 years ago, so maybe Christians should refer to it by its ancient Aramaic word instead of "marriage". And if you agree that homosexuals "partnerships" should share all the same rights as heterosexual "marriage" then your argument is purely semantic. In which case you don't have aleg to stand on. But you already knew that, that's why you keep sticking to your same tired rhetorical trolling.

      Delete
    16. when a man and woman fall in love settle down devout themselves to each other and procreate that is marriage and has always been marriage Jason if you want to kiss a boy and fall in love Jason that is not marriage. You can not change the definition of a word just because you want to include yourself in something that is physically impossible to include yourself in and maintain the balance of nature. If everyone got married the way you want to get married then the world would be come extinct. Get real you will never ever ever convince a married man and woman making babies and raising them that your marriage is the same thing because it is not marriage it is a partnership.

      Delete
    17. Well, I am a happily married heterosexual father who does believe that homosexuals should be able to get married. I do believe its the same thing. What you should have said is "you'll never convince a small minded retard like me that their marriage is the same as mine". And then you would be right.

Of course you jumped on that as a way to yell "AHHH look what the christian said they are so so so bad" Doesn't that seem a little silly now looking back Brandt? I think you need to go back to the corner and think about what you did right there.
As far as making a suggestion as a drawing for you to do Alan was depicting basically the opposite of what you drew... but no you wouldn't want to draw that cause you may offend the gays right? 8. Brandt where in the world did you get that I hate homosexuals?!?! I can not believe you just said that. I am doing this because you are making it easy and more importantly entertaining!!! 3 days of laughter sounds like I made out.
I have had homosexual friends I have no friends near me now because I moved from Tucson out to California to be close to my wife's family as she is 32 years old with stage 4 colon cancer and does not have the benefit of an average life span here on earth and I'm in a small drab town where life is confusing for everyone and the future of the country looks dim if California's bankruptcy is any indication of what is to come through out the rest of the country.
You'll have lots of pretty pictures to paint then.

Good luck with your dying wifes rotting rectum, at least as long as she's with you she has one healthy asshole around.

  16. Thanks Jason we appreciate your support. She is doing fine she has out lived the doctor's prognosis so far. The cancer is in her colon, lungs, liver, spleen and ovaries. It hasn't spread beyond that yet. I must say you are so full of hate. As far as life goes I do not know how you picture our situation but you act like it is a 24/7 job holding her hand by her bed ridden body. I can assure you it is nothing like that. She has chemo every 2 weeks and she is only sick for a day or 2 but other than her bald head you would never know she had about a year left to live.. more if we are lucky. I'm thankful you are not in a situation like this because I can tell by maturity level and your hate you'd probably take it out on yourself or others. Good Luck with your meaningless life. It's easy to incite anger on the internet. But I didn't see any real creativity here. Basically the old "start a religion flame post" tactic. It's like watching a vintage black and white movie. But a bad one. One of those Turner classics or some mess that people forgot due to it's bad pacing and blatant display of script biting.I think if anything positive can come out of this thread, it would be the validation of the lack of creative ideas. It's almost as though you can find solace in the fact that some people(no matter how hard they try) will always resort to biting things from the past. It's an act of desperation. Desperation in the sense that they are almost begging for attention from people on the internet who give two shits less about them. Wasting their energy and burning calories on their semen glazed keyboard.
