SPECIAL PRICING on COMMISSIONS

I'm currently taking commission orders for the months of April and May.  Just email dregstudios@gmail.com with head shots of who you'd like drawn!  Right now I'm running a special for 50% OFF making original full-color illustrations start at just $50 to draw a single person portrait.  You (or whoever you want me to illustrate) can be yourself, your favorite superhero, a zombie, a monster- the sky is the limit!  Well, it's actually not because I can totally draw you in outer space if you want.  I've drawn super-powered teenagers, children playing with their favorite cartoon characters, even a couple as a dragon and faerie!  Of course I can also illustrate standard portraits of folks just being themselves too! Drop me an email about your idea!  I accept PayPal and have always worked out payment plans with folks if you're interested.

EASTER EGGS

For the past few years, I've kept a small sketch book handy to keep my hands out of trouble and my mind active.  This is a new-found practice with my craft since I've never really kept an actual book of drawings since I was in my early twenties (and none of those ended up filled completely).  With the first of these mini books completed early last year, I felt the urge to continue the course a few months later.  I began a Sketch Diary back in the fall which my sister purchased for me.  One of the practices I've enjoyed in these books is sketching small decorative eggs.  I've drawn a handful of these throughout the new book so far.  I found it fitting to share them with you today considering the holiday. Some are just random decorations from my imagination and some are pop-based. (Click HERE to see the batch of Eggs I shared from my last book!)  Enjoy!

Beavis v Butt-Head: Dawn of Bunghole

I've had slew of wicked fun with these blank Variant Covers as of late!  I've found myself really going one of two routes with them- I have "mashup" covers like this one or I've been doing a "visionary" version of a classic hero or villain via a third eye and some psychedelic coloring.

If you like the ones I've been sharing, I have a few of the Variant comics with my original art on them for sale on my eBay right NOW (Click HERE!)

I'll be sharing some more of these here on my website as I finish them up.  I currently have almost 20 with lined artwork on them ready to color!  I've mentioned in previous posts about these sketch covers being like a childhood dream come true by putting your artwork on a real comic book!  Too much fun!

BERNIE SANDERS: The Visionary Politician

The America we grew up in taught us to dream big- there are no limits to what can be accomplished in our country (and the world).  Bernie Sanders dreams big for all of us and has changed our country's political discussion by addressing issues which matter to the people who build our nation- it's citizens.  He's lit a fire within many of us by speaking common sense politics about saving the Middle Class in America.  He packs arenas quicker than any rock star on the planet and speaks with a startling honesty.  His vision is a thriving, educated working class with equal rights and he's helping us all to see it and make it our reality.

Je Suis Bruxelles (In Solidarity with Brussels)

(Inks on Bristol Board - 03/22/16 - Brandt Hardin)
Waking to the news of terrorist attacks anywhere in the world is troubling.  Today it was the city of Brussels in Belgium and as sure as the sun rises, lives will be lost somewhere else next week... and the week after... and the week after.  Religious and racial fanaticism have driven centuries of human war and strife.  The aim of terrorism is to instill hatred through the avenue of fear.  Once we've finished mourning, please be mindful of fear and the anger which follows.  It's that anger which dilutes tolerance and allows the vicious cycle of war to continue.  We have to be mindful of this, especially here in America where racial tensions are at a boiling point.  Don't let one act of callous extremism lead us to condemn an entire sect of humanity.  Stand in solidarity with the world in their troubled times whether it be Boston, Paris, Belgium or any city foreign or domestic as to help them remember a greater love and universal acceptance of one another's beliefs.

TRUMPAGEDDON: The Hate Wave in America

Donald Trump's Presidential campaign runs off a bitter fuel.  Energized by a pungent mix of celebrity worship and polarized politics, he's caught lightning in a bottle and much of America is drinking the punch.  We all have family and friends intoxicated by the brash bolstering claims and lavish promises which are driving a record number of Conservatives to the polls.

Happy St Patty's Day from DREGstudios!

St. Patrick's Day always brings back plenty of memories for me when it rolls around.  While there's plenty I've forgot in a haze of Jameson celebrating the holiday in my 20's, there's plenty of childhood memories I cherish as well as drunken bar ballads.  I grew up the rural town of Erin here in Middle Tennessee.  The town was given its name by Irish railroad workers who named it such when seeing the lush greenery along their path carving out the rails which would run through.  Erin's Irish Day celebration (this Saturday) is one of the Top 10 St. Patrick celebrations in the country.  If you haven't been, visit the Chamber of Commerce's website by Clicking HERE to plan your visit around the event schedule!

INDEX DEMONS (Recycled Art)

Back in 2009, I created a series of smaller illustrations on a pack of discarded index card dividers I found.  This gave me a cool set of drawings made out of repurposed materials so you can consider them recycled art!  Only these 7 remain and I'm putting them up for sale today in the DREGstudios Store!  For shiggles, each of these original drawings is priced from just $13-20 while they last!  Click HERE to visit my store now to see all 7 up close and personal!

#FreeArtMovement: Altruism in the Arts

Imagine walking along the sidewalk and something on the ground just outside the line of travel catches your attention.  If it's a $20 bill then OH Lucky Day! We all know the feeling of finding a gift from the Universe whether it be time left on a parking meter or that cash on the sidewalk.  Imagine if it were a work of art you could take home and hang on your wall!  Something to behold and tell a story about time and again.  Artists across the globe in various communities have taken up the call for creating such moments for total strangers.  This is called the #FreeArtMovement!  Keep an eye on my social media accounts and you just may catch a random drop!  Sometimes folks from Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram are the first to see the post and make it to their prize on time.  Other times, a total stranger finds the art.  Here are some examples of #FAM posts I've shared the past few months...
