King's Landing dOOdle

"There is no king who has not had a slave among his ancestors, and no slave who has not had a king among his."

"Death is the king of this world: 'Tis his park where he breeds life to feed him. Cries of pain are music for his banquet."

"Kings are the slaves of history.”

gAsm dOOdle

“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...

...and you finish off as an orgasm.”  -George Carlin

Hard Livin' (and Easy Lovin') dOOdle

This is probably about how I looked crawling out of bed today.  Some social time was much overdue in contrast to being consumed with work as of late.  We had some great friends over last night to ring in the Summer Solstice and even met some new bright souls.  Plenty of laughter, smoked pork and Balvenie Doublewood fueled the fire... ready for another incredible summer.  Many adventures lie ahead.

hOt TiME dOOdle

It's heating up out there...

"For one swallow does not make a summer, nor does one day; and so too one day, or a short time, does not make a man blessed and happy."

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”

“Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly.”

LiQUiD dOOdle

Appreciating the little things this evening.  Playing in my yard today I was thanking the birds, the trees and the bees (and even all the dust which makes my face run) for being ours to play among.  Thankful for love infinite.   Thinking of my dad who taught me to love everyone and taught me to love the woods...

"In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, — no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground, — my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, — all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or particle of God. The name of the nearest friend sounds then foreign and accidental: to be brothers, to be acquaintances, — master or servant, is then a trifle and a disturbance. I am the lover of uncontained and immortal beauty. In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages. In the tranquil landscape, and especially in the distant line of the horizon, man beholds somewhat as beautiful as his own nature."

FRIDAY the 13th

Inks on Bristol Board / 2014
I threw together some fan art to mark Friday the 13th today.  According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, between 17 and 21 million are affected in their daily lives by the arrival of this "unlucky holiday."  Ironically, the Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics stated in 2008 that less traffic incidents and thefts occur on Friday the 13th.  Although, this may be attributed to more people simply staying home and being cautious not to fall victim of this curiously demented date.  At any rate, the date takes form in another cult-pop manner as the title of the movie line featuring everyone's favorite mama's boy slasher Jason Voorhees. The madman himself is pretty ripe in my new illustration and it looks like one of those eyes is spawning new life. Enjoy and go Get Lucky today!

What Goes Around Comes Around

I've got some big things on the horizon... keep those positive thoughts flowing...

"Karma moves in two directions. If we act virtuously, the seed we plant will result in happiness. If we act non-virtuously, suffering results."

"Like gravity, karma is so basic we often don't even notice it."
