MUSIC and OTHER DRUGS Album Art

Recently I had the pleasure of creating some album art for an uber-talented local hip-hopper, Zo.  He wanted something truly surreal for his upcoming album.  I'm thankful for his patience in waiting on my recovery from some recent medical woes before finishing up this commission for him.  Here are some process pictures as well as a few reference shots in this sneak peak of the art!  If you want to see it in its entirety, then click on over to his website, REVOLUTION ZO after you check out the teaser...

HEARTBREAKER from the Sunday Southern Pop Surrealism Session

Braving the wind, the looming overcast and cyclones of helicopter seeds today, I took to the Wolfman's backyard along with Jesse Shaw for a few hours of Southern Pop Surrealism.  Here's my own favorite creation from this afternoon's painting session- a collaboration from the three of us... what do you think their conversation entails?

4/20 TOUR of WURDZ

Sinner and Saint alike gathered together last night at The Coup here in Clarksville for a special and intimate Easter Sunday / 4/20 Edition of TOUR of WURDZ!  I was more than happy to get back out in public for my first live painting in a very long time with Wolfman Bennett and Mike McKelvey.  We saw a few new faces and some spontaneous collaborations on stage for the most open Open-Mic on God's Green Earth!  Here's a few candid moments from the holiday extravaganza...

DECORATIVE EGGS (Happy Easter from DREGstudios!)

The past several months, I've been working on a pet project with a small sketchbook I picked up a few years back.  Often we artists compulsively purchase these little books but rarely is the case one actually becomes finished.  As of today I lack only 8 pages in completing this particular collection of miniature sketches!  Included in the book are a series of random decorative eggs I've been playing around with.  I'd really like to tackle painting something similar in the future.  Being close to the graphite finish line, I found them to be fitting material to share today on Easter Sunday... enjoy!

ZOMBIE WALK of FAME: Mickey Rooney

This Monday, Hollywood legend and film star Mickey Rooney passed away after a career which spanned eight decades.  In memoriam, I felt it appropriate to share my portrait from the (still) upcoming Zombie Walk of Fame series which I've been raising as the undead fruit of my loins the past few years.  The spirit of this body of work is to represent the mania of pop stardom and how it creates undying legends.  As a child star, the Mickster was a prime target for my art when I chose 101 celebrities from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to zombify!  Enjoy!
